According to a recent study, that came about because of increased alcohol consumption during Covid, it was found that ‘chronic alcohol use is linked to impaired plasticity of brain inhibition networks’.

Basically that means the more one drinks the less they can control the urges due to changes in the brain.

They are working on how to reduce that.
