I’m sorry…claimed to be said too often even though it has two meanings. Let’s sort this out.
Saying ‘I’m sorry’ follows trauma survivors. The guilt of the traumatic experience weighs heavily on them. That behavior can change as healing progesses.
Saying ‘I’m sorry’ in response to hearing someone’s situation or story validates that you’ve heard what they’re saying and empathize. That shows you care.
