EMTs and Paramedics need a sense of humor to survive their job, but given the nature of it that can be tough to hold on to.

These First Responders like Law Enforcement constantly run towards trauma rather than away from it. They have no choice. It’s their job, and for most it’s who they are.

They sometimes go home in tears. They’re second-guessed on why they did what they did. They’ve felt like failures and wanted to quit. The reality is: They save lives and they comfort the sick. It takes very special people to do this work day in and day out.
